Before mobility

Before Mobility Starts

Accommodation

ESEP International Office and the Student Association provides you all the help in finding accommodation.
House-letting and accommodation is the student´s responsibility.

It is advisable to start looking for accommodation before departure to Portugal, and you can choose between the main modalities: university residence; room or shared house.

Insurance cover

Erasmus students are entitled to an insurance free of taxes, just like regular ESEP students.

However, we strongly advise all students to have an additional insurance plan that covers the extent of their staying outside school and clinical practice.

Travelling arrangements

You are responsible for ensuring your flight tickets and arrangements and to plan your budget for your stay.

We advise you to get to Portugal two days (minimum) before beginning of the mobility programme. This will give you the opportunity to settle down and have a first insight of Porto city.
Arrange for your European health insurance card or PB4 or individual insurance.
ESEP will provide you with a document to get discount on your student bus pass.

Language proficiency

Communication is the core of nursing education. It is important that you have a good proficiency level of Portuguese language. ESEP recommends you to attend the online Portuguese course offered by the Erasmus+ Programme, available at Online Linguist Support – OLS.

Legal requirements

EU Citizens do not have to go through customs process upon the arrival in Portugal.
