Learning outcomes: The course Behaviour and Relationship aims at: enable students to acquire knowledge and develop skills/attitudes to allow optimization of their relational component, empowering the student with resources to enable therapeutic procedures (diagnosis and intervention) in care provision to people throughout the life cycle and in people with communication disorders; The course focuses also on nursing therapeutic modalities capable of promoting the quality of life, well-being and self-reliance, mainly in the relational and interaction components.

Learning outcomes: To understand the cell as the functional unit of life; To understand the molecular logic of living things; To identify microorganisms and antimicrobial susceptibility testing; To acknowledge the interaction between man and microorganisms; To understand human diseases caused by each microorganism groups.

Learning outcomes: The Personal and Social Development optional course aims to function as an opportunity for personal knowledge, through active dynamics and reflexion, boosting growing and personal perception while empowering the professional student’s performance. This course will also aim at training skills that will improve the nurse professional practice in the communities.

Learning outcomes: To acquire knowledge that enables to understand life dynamics: from cell to the all human body; To empower the student to nursing practice, through understanding of the functions of different organs and systems of the human body; To understand structure complementarity, its normal functioning and its relevance to Homeostasis; To develop the ability and attitudes to apply clinical procedures and lab techniques.

Learning outcomes: Reflect on the importance of the course unit for the future nursing practice; To show aspects of the history of the Deaf Community and Sign Language; Raise awareness about the reality of deafness; Discuss, clarify and develop techniques to deal with the deaf person and specific care; Develop basic skills in Portuguese Sign Language.

Learning outcomes: General Pharmacology: Understanding general principles of pharmacology and pathophysiological bases of drug therapy: understand the general mechanisms of action of drugs, overall cycle in the body, and factors that influence the variability of individual and interindividual response; Special Pharmacology: It is intended that the student understands the mechanism of action, most relevant pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetic properties and most common adverse reactions of the most important drugs of each drug group.

Learning outcomes: To develop skills of caring and care management, ethical and legal practice in nursing professional practice in the context of the community care units; To develop intervention skills focus on groups/community in the context of school health and elderly health/active aging; To develop capabilities aimed at encouraging the critical reasoning of the health and its determinants and a free and informed decision making; To promote social participation; To develop problem-solving skills problems and case management strategies; To understand case management models, recognizing their contribution in promoting the quality of nursing care; To apply a holistic and integrated vision in addressing problem situations.

Learning outcomes: This course is aimed at the development of the competences of the general care nurse, in the context of functional units that provide care for families and individuals (USF and UCSB). Hence, the student must: Develop skills to intervene with the individual and the family within their specific setting; Provide nursing care to the individual/family according to the methodology of the nursing process; Identify, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care with according to the guidelines of health promotion, disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation; Promote a process of personal and professional development focused on education, empowerment and critical reasoning in nursing; Developing skills of design, monitoring and review of the care procedures regarding the transitions occurring throughout the life cycle of the families/individuals.
