Enhancing Nursing Information in Electronic Health Records in Iceland and Norway
This initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and use of Nursing Information Systems as an integral part of Electronic Health Records in Iceland and Norway by implementing activities aimed at increasing understanding of the importance of the electronic nursing documentation process using the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) in both nursing education and professional practice.
Aims
- To strengthen collaboration between nursing higher education institutions from Portugal, Iceland and Norway, increasing research in Electronic Health Records in nursing education and health and promoting knowledge transfer between the three countries involved;
- To support the development of Electronic Health Records using CIPE © in Iceland and Norway, promoting a sustainable policy of implementation in the three countries, using nursing classifications and ontologies.
This partnership intends to implement a set of cooperation and exchange actions including a workshop, a e-learning course and a seminar for sharing the in-depth knowledge that Nursing School of Porto has in developing and implementing EHR, and Portugal has by experiencing the nationwide use of EHR for more than 20 years.
In this initiative, it is intended to involve health decision-makers, nursing leaders, faculties and students of the three countries in the development of EHR knowledge, embodying the benefits of the integration of taxonomies and ontologies in the definition and implementation of NIS, and also to promote the systematization of best practices in EHR implementation in order to promote relevant information, capable of being used to increase the health of the populations of the involved countries.
