Positive Professional Environments4Nursing Pratice

Recent studies confirm that the common predictors of quality and safety of care and nurses’ well-being refer to the dimensions of nursing practice environments. In addition, investment in this area has been internationally recommended, given the growing evidence of the impact of nursing professional practice environments on clients, institutions, and nurses.

Over the last decade, nurses have been aware of the need to improve professional nursing practice environments. In addition, the pandemic has aggravated some of the difficulties these professionals were already facing. Moreover, although COVID-19 increased the attention to practice environments, triggering a series of responses to address some of the most emerging problems, it is essential to know the real needs, difficulties, and potentialities of the different contexts, thus expanding the possibility of innovative strategies to qualify nursing professional practice environments in health institutions in Portugal and Brazil.

Given the relevance of this project’s contributions, the proximity established with the practice settings will be essential to define strategies for promoting more positive professional nursing practice environments.
