Post-graduate course in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing
In line with the good practices recommended in the international and national context, namely with the Portuguese Order of Nurses Training Plan, the course has a set of Curricular Units which are an integral part of the Master’s Degree in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing.
This course discusses Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing in the context of nursing in general, addresses the most relevant themes in the area of psychopathology and focuses on areas conferring it a particular identity:
- Mental health promotion;
- Disease prevention;
- Risks reduction and psychotherapeutic intervention modalities;
Learning outcomes
- To promote optimization in mental health of people, families and communities;
- To assist people throughout the life cycle, family, groups and community, recognising the different developmental, situational and health-illness transitions experienced by people with mental disorders;
- To assist people throughout the life cycle, integrated in the family, groups and community to recover mental health, mobilising the dynamics of each context.
