Post-graduate course in Nursing Information Systems
Post-graduate course in Nursing Information Systems
In recent decades, the importance of the data produced and documented as a result of nurses’ professional practice has represented a major challenge for the development of Nursing Information Systems (NIS). As a response, the ESEP, in the continuity of its training and R&D path, presents potential students of this postgraduate training course with the opportunity to develop added competencies that respond to the current challenges in this area, namely:
- The need for an integrative vision at the level of interoperability of health systems and the representation of Nursing knowledge, based on an Ontology anchored in the disciplinary domain;
- The need to clarify essential procedures, both at the level of collection and of access to and processing of health data;
- The potential of “Artificial Intelligence” and “Machine Learning” in promoting the safety of Nursing care;
- The relationship between information syntheses, quality management and decisions at different levels of governance in health.
Learning outcomes
- To understand the importance of the management, organization and treatment of the information produced by nurses;
- To understand the potential associated with the use of information in ensuring the quality of nurses’ professional practice;
- To develop skills to critically analyse the health information systems, particularly the safety standards and data protection adopted.
